Privacy Policy

Version 1.1 — Last Updated: 7 February 2026
Effective Date: 7 February 2026

Overview

CheckNet is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you use our network diagnostic tools. We do not use cookies, tracking scripts, or analytics services that collect personal data.

Data We Process

1. IP Addresses

When you use our IP lookup, Blacklist Checker, or Ping tools, we process IP addresses to provide geolocation, reverse DNS, blacklist status, and connectivity information. IP addresses are considered personal data under GDPR.

  • Purpose: To provide IP geolocation, reverse DNS lookup, blacklist checking, and network diagnostic services
  • Legal Basis: Legitimate interest (providing the requested service)
  • Storage: IP addresses are not stored in any database or log. They are processed on-demand to provide the requested service and are not retained by our application.
  • Third-Party Transmission: When using the Blacklist Checker, your IP address is transmitted to third-party DNS-based blacklist (DNSBL) providers to check listing status. See Third-Party Services below for details.

2. Domain Names

When you use our WHOIS, DNS Lookup, DNS Propagation, SSL Certificate, HTTP Headers, Blacklist Checker, or Ping tools, we process domain names you provide to deliver the requested information.

  • Purpose: To provide domain lookup, DNS analysis, SSL inspection, HTTP header inspection, blacklist checking, and network diagnostic services
  • Storage: Domain names are not stored. They are processed on-demand.
  • Third-Party Transmission: Domain queries are sent to third-party DNS resolvers (e.g. Google DNS, Cloudflare DNS) and, for certain tools, to DNSBL providers or the target server itself. See Third-Party Services below for details.

3. URLs

When you use our HTTP Headers Inspector, we process URLs you provide. Our server makes an outbound HTTP request to the specified URL to retrieve its response headers.

  • Purpose: To retrieve and display HTTP response headers and security evaluation for the specified URL
  • Storage: URLs are not stored. They are processed on-demand.
  • Outbound Connections: Our server connects to the URL you specify. The target server will see a request from our infrastructure (not from your browser directly).

4. Browser Information

Our IP lookup tool may display browser information (user agent, platform) that your browser automatically sends. This information is not stored or logged.

5. Client-Side Only Tools

Some tools process data entirely in your browser without sending it to our servers. These include the Subnet/CIDR Calculator and URL Parser/Encoder. Data entered into these tools never leaves your device.

6. Local Storage

The Service Status page uses your browser's localStorage to remember your service selection preferences. This data:

  • Stays on your device (not sent to our servers)
  • Is not personal data (only service IDs)
  • Can be cleared at any time through your browser settings

What We Don't Do

  • No Cookies: We do not set any cookies on your device
  • No Personal Tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising networks. We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous, aggregated page view statistics only (see Third-Party Services below).
  • No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties for commercial purposes. Data is only transmitted to third-party services as necessary to deliver the diagnostic results you request (see Third-Party Services below).
  • No User Accounts: We do not require registration or store user accounts

Data Retention

Our application does not store or log personal data. Our hosting provider may retain standard server access logs (including IP addresses) as part of their infrastructure operations, in accordance with the hosting provider's own data retention policies. No personal data is stored in our own databases or application logs.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Under GDPR, you have rights regarding your personal data. However, since CheckNet processes data on-demand and does not store personal data in our own databases, the practical application of these rights is limited:

  • Right to Access: You can request information about what data we process. Since we process data on-demand and don't store it, we can only provide information about our data processing practices, not historical data about your specific usage.
  • Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your data. Since we don't store personal data in our databases, there is typically no data to delete from our systems. Any data in hosting infrastructure logs would be subject to the hosting provider's retention policies.
  • Right to Object: You can object to processing of your data. However, since our tools require processing your input (IP addresses, domain names, URLs) to function, objecting would prevent you from using the service.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a portable format. Since we don't store personal data, there is typically no data to export.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights or have questions, please contact us. We will respond to your request in accordance with GDPR requirements.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process data:

  • Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated page view statistics (pages visited, referrer). Vercel Analytics does not use cookies, does not track individual users across sessions, and does not collect personal data. See Vercel's Analytics Privacy Policy for details.
  • Cloud Hosting Provider: Our application is hosted on Vercel. The hosting provider may process IP addresses and request metadata as part of their infrastructure services. This is covered by Vercel's Privacy Policy.
  • AI Service Provider: When using the Regex Generator with complex patterns, we may send the pattern examples you provide to a third-party AI service (OpenAI). No personal data (such as IP addresses) is included in these requests — only the example strings you enter.
  • Public DNS Resolvers: The DNS Propagation Checker queries multiple third-party DNS resolvers (including Google Public DNS, Cloudflare DNS, Quad9, OpenDNS, and others) with the domain name you provide. These providers may log queries according to their own privacy policies.
  • DNS-Based Blacklist (DNSBL) Providers: The Blacklist Checker queries third-party DNSBL services to check whether an IP address or domain is listed. Providers include Spamhaus, Barracuda, SpamCop, SORBS, UCEPROTECT, and Composite Blocking List (CBL). The reversed IP address or domain name you provide is transmitted to these services via DNS queries.
  • Target Servers (HTTP Headers Inspector): When you use the HTTP Headers Inspector, our server makes an outbound HTTP request to the URL you specify. The target server receives a request from our infrastructure and may log it according to their own policies. We do not send any personal data about you in these requests.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Minimal data collection (only what's necessary for service delivery)
  • No persistent storage of personal data
  • Infrastructure headers filtered from public API responses
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when changes were made. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Previous versions are available in the Version History below.
